Hmmmmm. Interesting. I share your two main problems -- dark and cluttered apartment -- but I might try it anyway. I've been trying to get a little exercise by doing DDR, and while I don't know if it's helping, for two weeks I've been managing to get out of bed early and do it, which honestly for me is more success than I've had with any other "exercise" attempt.
I think part of my problem with DDR is that I hit a wall with the music that I actually like. I end up playing the same 10 or so songs again and again. Playing the same songs incessantly doesn't exactly give me the drive to get beyond 3/4-foot songs.
