2006.0419.1658::Observations from my deathbed
I've been sick for the past few days, with some kind of hemorrhagic fever. It might really just be the flu, however, because my co-workers remarked that I wasn't bleeding from my eyes--you know, if I were bleeding from the eyes, I'd like to think that before I went to the hospital, I'd jump into the car and drive to batnandu's workplace and yell out, "DUDE! Check it out! I'm totally bleeding out of my eyes!!"

On Monday night, the Pink Gator came over and brought me some curry noodle soup, and we both watched the second season episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, "Where Silence Has Lease." I commented that it was probably second season, and she finished my thought with "because Worf has short hair and Riker has the beard..."

Later on that night, I pointed to the little bonus sculpture that came with my copy of Return of the King, and asked her, "Do you know what that is?" No, my friends, she answered neither, "I don't know" nor , "that city from Lord of the Rings," but "Minas Tirith" and went on to say, "The tree is missing... too bad..."

Amazing woman, she is.

Now if only she would be into gaming...

And as tagged by amezri, A Username Meme
  1. Write a little paragraph about your name, why you chose it, what it means to you, etc.

    I've written a number of posts about my parent's changing my name for "good fortune," so "tmhsiao," my old username, was just not correct anymore. I switched it, thinking, "why go for something as prosaic as 'jmhsiao'?" thepeopleseason is, therefore, only slightly less prosaic: a literal translation of my new Chinese name, Ji meaning "season" and Ming meaning "people." I chose that particular combination because "absintheseason" (Hsiao can be translated to mean a common form of the breed of plants which make absinthe) was too long for the 15-character username limit.

  2. What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?

    Uhh, like I just changed it. :)

  3. What is your favorite username? Why?

    That's a tough one. There's a couple on Fark.com which I find pretty funny--HeywoodJablome and TheJerkStore come to mind. A player on Subspace made me snarf my drink with the username "Bongwater." As for LJ, batnandu is pretty good if only because it reminds me of grad school.

  4. Now, tag five other unfortunates whose usernames you would like to hear about:
    You know I'm bad with the taggings...

[User Picture]It's nice that other people besides myself enjoy the Star Trek: TNG episodes on SpikeTV and the gaming network. 3 hours during the day, 2 hours of TNG a night and again at 2 AM. What gods have I pleased?

[User Picture]This Pink Gator seems very cool.

Thanks for the explanation. Very interesting.
