![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/84050395/767962) What do you want to be when you grow up? I don't want to grow up. I'm a Toys'R'Us Kid.

What is your favorite programming language? Why?What is your least programming language? Why?Regarding the former Perl, because there's more than one way to do it, and most of "everything you could possibly need" is available at CPAN. The latter: Probably C++ because of minutiae like having to personally manage memory allocation and do things like pointer arithmetic as well as, like you mentioned in your answers about Java, the overhead associated with creating a simple functional program. Now, I'm sure most programmers are interested in the nitty-gritty of computing, and playing around with concepts like loop-unrolling and bitwise operations can be rewarding, but the thing I like most about Perl is that with the language you can determine for yourself the level of minute computing detail you want to address when programming. First and foremost, however, I'm using the language as a tool to solve problems, and dealing with tasks like making sure I'm allocating enough space for a 100 element array of 25 character strings and then having to step through each string letter by letter just makes my solutions that much harder to come to. With Perl, I don't have to be bogged down with Object-Oriented Design, but I can if I choose to. Which Buffy or Angel character do you feel the most comfort writing? Most of what I've written involve Xander in some way. I've always identified with his character the strongest out of all the characters in both shows.
(A) First, recommend to me: 1. a movie: The Incredibles 2. a book: Dreamhouse by Alison Habens 3. a musical artist, song, or album: Tom McRae
The IncrediblesAch. I still can't believe I haven't seen this one yet. If work weren't eating my brain, I would go in the middle of the day...
![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/58447179/480308) Go! Go now! Forget about work! (of course, as I type this, it's 4:45 on friday afternoon, so give it fifteen minutes... *g*)
(A) First, recommend to me: 1. a movie: "Enemy Mine" an 80's scifi flick with Dennis Quaid 2. a book: "Eragon" a YA fantasy book by Christopher Paolini 3. a musical artist, song, or album: Nope
(B) I want everyone who reads this to ask me three questions, no more, no less. Ask me anything you want. (No Grail references. It's been done. By ludditerobot.) 1. Are you coming to the Buffy mini-con? 2. Do you like Harry Potter? 3. Will you try any of my recommendations?
Are you coming to the Buffy mini-con?I'll be meeting y'all at tomorrow night's dinner, and I might stop in for a little bit, but I've too much on my plate this weekend to do the whole Hootenanny. Do you like Harry Potter? When Goblet of Fire first came out, I borrowed a copy of Sorceror's Stone, read it in a day, and then ran around town frantically searching for a copy of Chamber of Secrets. When I found all of the books at a Chapter 11, I scooped them all up, went home, and read them all in like two days. When Order of the Phoenix came out, I went to Costco at 9:30 AM picked up a copy, went home, read it straight through, and then went to play poker at 11:00 PM. So, yeah, I guess I do like Harry Potter. Will you try any of my recommendations?Yep. I've been seeing Eragon on the shelves for some time and the dragon on the cover intrigues me. And I've seen Enemy Mine enough times that my older brother sometimes calls me Jamis. As for "Nope," I can't seem to find anything on a search for it :) |
